Mm. In speaking to the Overseers, they seem to imply their goal as two-fold: to both learn more of this cult's motives and ultimate goal, and to in a sense "slow roll" the sacrificial aspect. So I imagine it will not be short and humane, as it might be for a sheep at the abattoir.
They also mentioned that this locale is somewhat "in flux," though when I pressed what that means, they demured. I imagine it has something to do with the nature of the demiplane we have arrived in.
