Most mages do! Your rather typical cats, owls, snakes and such. But the Tressym has quite a long history of bonding as a familiar with a mage of respectable talent. Anyone can bind a familiar, summoning a spirit to take the shape of a bird is a basic task even an apprentice can accomplish, but to do it the old way - seeking out a creature and performing the proper bonding ritual - is a bit of a lost art. But well worth it. Tara here is much, much smarter than ... well, probably most of the people here, and we've been great friends for ... Hm? Twenty years?
