[ and from around his shoulders, there is ... a cat sound.]
Ah, right. Izutsumi, this is Tara. Tara, Izutsumi.
ears stay perked up, twitching, staring at tara though there's a flicker of wariness. her gaze briefly flicking up to the marks, the inky display because she's nosey of course she looks pointedly but she's back to staring at tara. the ends of her tail flicking, a bit puffed out. while she does, words start to peek from the fur around her neck, things like "CURSED, CAGED." ]
[ tara seems to be matching the expression of curiosity at first, but does a low kitty-growl in response to be being called a monster and ears flattening out - wings spreading. gale sort of has to duck to avoid it. ]
Oh-- my. Tara! She hardly meant it as an insult. I think. [ to izutsumi ] Tara is a Tressym, which I'll remind her is is some sense categorized academically as a monstrosity, but certainly not a pet. She's my friend, and my familiar.
[ cute.. izutsumi doesn't think that, keeping that curiosity even though her tail flicks quickly suddenly. it may not be an insult. maybe. ]
..Familiar. Most mages that have familiars are more straight forward. Like birds or whatever. Not a.. chimera of sorts. [ a cat with wings is kinda chimera-like in design. as she talks about magic, she seems pretty offhanded about it. not the biggest fan. and certainly frowning now with a pin back of her ears. ] Lotta creatures back where I'm from but they're monsters you find in dungeons.
gale looks most definitely a little smug when she says that, immediately perking up as if he is about to start Explaining capital E. which he then does. ]
Most mages do! Your rather typical cats, owls, snakes and such. But the Tressym has quite a long history of bonding as a familiar with a mage of respectable talent. Anyone can bind a familiar, summoning a spirit to take the shape of a bird is a basic task even an apprentice can accomplish, but to do it the old way - seeking out a creature and performing the proper bonding ritual - is a bit of a lost art. But well worth it. Tara here is much, much smarter than ... well, probably most of the people here, and we've been great friends for ... Hm? Twenty years?
[ tara yawns. ]
Though, I'm not certain she is a fan of a ... a dungeon? Much too damp.
funnier that tara isn't the only one yawning away, oh my GOD that lengthy smartie-mage ramble. she's kinda looking off, scratching at the inky words appearing on her mid-riff now before the topic moves on again. ]
I guess some of the dungeon floors are. [ helpful shrug. ] The snowy one definitely sucks. Too cold.
[ izutsumi is sitting by the pyre with a blanket in her lap, tossing things into the fire. papers, sticks, stones. though she stops when she sees him. ]
[ no no, she's free to burn things. gale will come sit down, and then tara will hop up onto his lap to sit here as well. what kitty cat doesn't love a fire. ]
[ she slips a hand inside her sleeveless brown vest, pulling out a crumpled paper from where it was tucked against her chest. ok. she squints at the letter before she just hands it over she doesn't want to read!
"Izutsumi, find Gale, Yuffie, and Kanda: "My god! My savior! You arrived." (not you, don't come, also please don't just throw this away because the other three WILL hunt you down)"
It sounds something like scripture - religious writings. With yours ...
[ pulling out his notebook, reading aloud: ]
"...was astronomical, but I was finally able to see it." "In return for the gift I offered" "It rose above us, towering, and I wept." "My god! My savior! You arrived."
I believe this is the correct order, though some questions remain. It is my guess that it describes the ritual to summon the god, following the sacrifices, and the writer's awe upon seeing the results of the summoning.
[ crosses her arms, listening to this but just gives a confused look. ]
Well, we already knew about the whole summoning for a god. That's just basic cult behavior, right? So why tell us this? Or is it more about the kind of ritual used?

And perhaps too many walking corpses. I find them to be all too terribly common in those locales.

Not much for following instruction, are you? [ very lightly, not at all judgmental. cats, man. ]
I'm not quite certain how they all fit together yet, but I am curious indeed. My god! My savior! You arrived. Hm.
no subject
[ cats, literally. she listens and makes a scrunched up face, scratching at one of her ears. ]
Is it about the cult? They're the one trying to summon some God, right?

I think you are correct. It might be specifying the kind of ritual. Or perhaps even the specific kind of god.

[ hmm... ] Maybe on how to deal with it? I guess? Monsters have weak spots, so I guess gods probably do too.
