as he approaches, he scratches at the side of his face briefly with a hand - just. gently trying to divert from where it says `a meaningless death` plastered along the side of his neck. it runs along the strange mark he's always had there: a circle that starts on his chest and has tendrils running on his neck and over his cheek. it seems more obvious now with the ink. ]
Enjoying your new home? Comfortable? relatively ghost-free?
Outside a spot of of dust, it's surprisingly one of the better hovels I've slept in.
[ the bar is so low, it's in darktown. she takes notice of his new mark but politely adverts her eyes so it's not in her focus. gods know she doesn't particularly think about the leandra peeping out of her sleeve. ]
I'll certainly take it over yet another underground system any day. [ the endless dungeons.......... ]
Though I'm certain with ser daan in our midst, we'll never have to worry while we're here.
[ she seems vaguely aware of his staring and as we've learned covering up just makes it worse so once again she stares into the middle distance and sighs deep in her soul. ]
I wasn't going to pry! It seems quite forward to ask without offering first. It's simply that if there are words in front of me, I'm going to read them.
ANYWAYS. HI HELLO IT'S TIME TO BLAST YOUR BRAINS. but not literally thank the maker, hawke would feel terrible if her memories simply evaporated somebody.
who knows where they are. who knows how it happens. all that gale needs to know is everything is bloody awful ]
[ lets see if she can explain this without going in confused circles ]
It is a being of the fade, a ghost of a sort whose sense of justice was strong enough to leave an impression after the rest had faded away. It sees the injustice in the world and wishes to correct it but given its nature, it can corrupt and be corrupted by the host it borrows to exist in the waking world.
[ gale, who normally at least managed to look fairly unrattled through these things, looks ... distinctly rattled this time. by the bulletin board, hands behind his back and staring down the posters. ]
... I spoke to Aerith quite a bit about the afterlife.
[ thinks hard her sunday chantry school lessons and .02% of knowledge her mages have attempted to explain ]
Depending on who you ask, the answer changes a bit. Overall everyone seems to agree spirits of our deceased pass through the veil that separates this world from the Fade; a place that exists outside the bounds of reality. After that it gets a bit more tricky, they're either left there to wander forever or somehow they'll make their way to the Makers side or learn all sorts of knowledge to bring back with them.
[ gale can be found in the library, obviously, hunched over a huge book and taking frantic notes in a fresh clean journal beside it. he won't notice if anyone else walked in, completely engrossed in this. hyperfixation time. good luck!!! ]
[ every thread today is just so funny imagining hawke being too stubborn to sit down for 0.5 minutes while her swamp healing does anything but feel healed.
unfortunately, this means amid her own browsing, hawke drops a book and clutches onto a ladder only to have it start sliding away from pressing her weight against it ]
well as it is he is sitting down at a table and not right next to the ladder, so he will try and stand at least but. I don't know that he's getting there in time to help. DON'T DIE. ]
[ gale is on the boardwalk most of the day, just strolling up and down it, clearly a bit lost in thought.
thoughts you can hear, apparently. `Now of course true Ascension would require picking a proper divine domain, not one that is already fully encaptured by another god or you will be getting into territorial disputes--` ]
[ i've always wanted to know if two people who don't ever shut up could legitimately create a wall of white noise simply by the fact that the endless mental chatter just doesn't end or they would just cancel each other out by being too distracting.
Isabella would have far too much fun with these stalls, it'd be simply end up a game of who could empty out the coffers the quickest. These games are far too easily rigged, we'd all be far too good at it. Perhaps we would start our own stall game though the fights over besmirching the territory would be funny- wait. ]
[oh! he stops short, and gets instantly distracted by the thoughts happening because he's nosy. but. ]
Ah - yes. Gods can be perhaps a bit territorial. Like cats? One cannot simply decide to become a god of, say, Magic, and not expect some pushback from Mystra.
[ running across hawke at some point, gale will he'll be wandering around elysium for the most part.
also i dont know how much of a gale's boobs fan hawke is, but she might notice that the orb mark on his chest is no longer dark and blue-black, now faded and pale white like a scar instead. ]
Not much like the Elysium I've heard of, but it will have to do. It has some upsides at any rate.
Right then. Asking you to not stab someone with a quill tomorrow feels a little too on point- [ BUT THE PUN WASN’T? ] so we'll just skip right over that.
[ at least her joking seems to have a touch more life behind it but the overwhelming tireds do make it hard to believe. who knew even champions needed a vacation?? ]
But maker, I certainly wish there was an option to simply take nap. I know I could use a weeklong vacation at this rate and simply let the rest of the lot handle whatever else decides to spit at us next.
W0 - MONDAY

[ he will not be blatantly asking about any cool new ink, it seems rude. especially if its a person's name. that seems worse than anything else.
he will be looking however.]

Do ask if you must.

It is my mother's name.

[ well. she did open the conversation, so. ]
Difficult relationship?

She died in my arms. I was too late to save her from a serial killer.

that's horrible. ]
I'm-- [ what do you even say to that. he looks utterly devastated? ] Incredibly sorry. I didn't mean to pry up something so terrible.
no subject
It's been a while now. Easier to talk about. Just don't ask me of the night itself and perhaps you won't find me head deep in a barrel later.
[ she's mostly joking. maybe ]
W1 - WEDNESDAY
A lot of practice with the butchering, then?
w2, tues

Got it in one. Now we've got an inseparable duo and more problems than you can count.
W2 - FRIDAY
... I spoke to Aerith quite a bit about the afterlife.
no subject
Did she have any sound advice to offer?
no subject
[ where or not that is advice is up to the listened, I suppose. ]
What do you know of the afterlife in your world? Is everything set in stone? Or up for an amount of debate?

Gods cursed healing water of useless nonsense-!

[ he will come over and offer a hand up at this point. ]
Are you quite alright, Hawke? That was certainly dramatic.

[ maybe a bit exaggerated but it does feel that way sometimes ]
This blasted twinging certainly isn't making anything easier.

[ it's said like a joke but he's not really able to sell it real well right now, so it just sounds sad instead. ]
I don't have much of a choice when it comes to carrying on for now, do I? It's not as if I can simply lay down and be done with it.
