As you are now both aware, a prize is awarded for killing outside of the execution ritual. One of those prizes can bring someone back to life. Monday, before I approached the two of you, I was asked by a small group who knew of my particular condition if perhaps I could be aided by the earning of this certain prize.

Ultimately a great deal was discussed, between myself, these others who I will not yet name as it is not my place, and with the Overseers as well, on how to possibly help or save Camille. Believe me, the plan was not simply to kill her and be done with it, nor to leave her to her fate at the end of someone like Kanda's blade. But you cannot wish to be saved using the same power as the monsters that reside within in, so a partnering could not be used to spare her. Death is the only possible relief. We were strongly advised to not be public about this. Death and drawn blades will attract the attention of the cult at large, when we are not protected by the trial rituals and otherwise. Camille ... was struggling greatly. Being kept waiting like that. It was torture, and cruelty to leave her in that state with no plan.

But one of the prizes can bring someone back to life. Do you understand?

[silence, for a long moment. she looks sort of like - well, a little like her feelings are hurt, but she doesn't say anything about it.]

[at least it's not that she's upset that camille is dead because like, she knew it was coming. that's why she wanted to try and give camille a good time during the party, because she figured one way or another her days were numbered. so it isn't that.

I know. I did not think you were. It was my hesitation - I asked for time to try and see if I could find another solution, and could not.

Not to defend Mystra, but she did not personally put the orb into me. I did that quite by myself. Nor am I certain it counts as a disease, but point taken.

Yes, and as I said that was the worst timing for that conversation. But regardless... we'll figure something out. Given the rate of deaths around here, I don't expect this will be the last situation like this, despite anyone's wishes.

[ sweet astarion, he is way too wizard-brained to interpret this back and forth he is very distressed right now. the nightmare scenario is astarion is evading now and was being honest before and he doesn't know which version to believe and will end up hurting him by choosing the wrong one again. ]
