It's a Gith word, and its literal meaning is meat, though the Githyanki usually exclusively use it to refer to outsiders from their own species. It is both meant to be a bit insulting, but also simply a factual statement. I don't know that she means anything by it apart from simply habit and ingrained cultural differences! I am, after all, made of meat.

Huh. I don't think I'm familiar with the Gith, but it looks like the spread of people here extends beyond Europa, even my entire world in full.

I wouldn't be surprised even if you were from Faerun to have not encountered the Githyanki, all considered, they are a rather rare sight on the Material Plane - but from my observations, you are entirely correct. We appear to be from across many universes and distant Planes, and I've yet to make conclusions on the ultimate ties that bind us.

What do I think? If it weren't for the grave kidnapping concerns and other such dread-inducing conclusions, I'd say the confluence of this variety of people from across worlds and planes normally beyond our reach would be one of the most fascinating arcane happenings of our time! Normally to achieve slippage between worlds requires the use of an extraordinarily powerful Plane Shift, and often a Spelljammer. It's perhaps a bit funny-- As a young man, I often wanted to travel on one, and now that I apparently have been given the opportunity, it is against my will.
I really am quite frustrated I have no access to the Weave in this place. It is truly a missed opportunity my tools to study it are limited.

Guess I haven't ever considered what would happen if an asymmetric sigil actually worked. I thought the default was just that nothing happens.

Hah! Nothing happening would be the best you could hope for. The worst might be something along the lines of turned entirely inside out, or perhaps right into the maw of a Death Slaad.

Magic? Practically born into it - though, of course, not literally. I'm not a Sorcerer or the like. I was a prodigy from quite a young age, I cast my first spell at around two years old. I suppose I had an intrinsic ability to understand the Weave, much like playing an instrument.

I suppose I would more accurately say she embodies all magic. The One True Spell. But yes, in turn, she governs her Weave and the way in which mages may use that power - its limits and its rules.

Oh? Curious. What makes medicine modern versus ... not? I would imagine the latest techniques would involve new applications of magic, but if you're simply treating in a mundane fashion, that would be quite novel indeed.
