I wouldn't be surprised even if you were from Faerun to have not encountered the Githyanki, all considered, they are a rather rare sight on the Material Plane - but from my observations, you are entirely correct. We appear to be from across many universes and distant Planes, and I've yet to make conclusions on the ultimate ties that bind us.
What do I think? If it weren't for the grave kidnapping concerns and other such dread-inducing conclusions, I'd say the confluence of this variety of people from across worlds and planes normally beyond our reach would be one of the most fascinating arcane happenings of our time! Normally to achieve slippage between worlds requires the use of an extraordinarily powerful Plane Shift, and often a Spelljammer. It's perhaps a bit funny-- As a young man, I often wanted to travel on one, and now that I apparently have been given the opportunity, it is against my will.
I really am quite frustrated I have no access to the Weave in this place. It is truly a missed opportunity my tools to study it are limited.

I suppose I would more accurately say she embodies all magic. The One True Spell. But yes, in turn, she governs her Weave and the way in which mages may use that power - its limits and its rules.

Oh? Curious. What makes medicine modern versus ... not? I would imagine the latest techniques would involve new applications of magic, but if you're simply treating in a mundane fashion, that would be quite novel indeed.
Magic is an occult practice where I come from. [ I guess maybe Pagan religion would be the closest approximation to describe it. ] There are studiers, and churches dedicated to learning the craft, but it isn't as if it's embedded in everyone's daily lives.
And I know disinfectants and needles work, both objectively and the logic behind how they heal.
The idea of taking a gamble on occult healing is a bit too nebulous when I'm handling lives, right?
I hope you don't take any offense when I tell you that the last time I ran into someone who practiced objective healing complete with scapels, needles and disinfectants, it was among the most horrifying experiences of my life.

We simply convinced him that allowing his assistants to experiment upon him was the truest form of worship one could conceive of.
